15,000 fruit, melliferous and park saplings will be distributed on Epiphany by Gorata.bg.
On Saturday, fruit trees – plums (Yellow Afazka), quinces, apples (rootstock), mahaleb cherry (wild cherry), walnuts, as well as melliferous lindens, red oak, sycamore maple, lilacs, black locust (melliferous acacia) and others will be gifted to residents of Haskovo and Kardzhali.
Most saplings are 40 – 130 cm, optimal for establishment and easy planting, and there are also some up to 2 meters. The plums (Yellow Afazka), quinces and walnuts are directly fruit-bearing, while the apples and cherries are not grafted (they are rootstocks) and should be grafted/budded. Sizes vary. People will receive instructions for storage, planting and care.
The aim is to plant 1 million trees in the country during this season, and 5 million by 2025, as announced by the organizers of the event.
The initiative is by Gorata.bg, who distributed 13,500 saplings on 4 March last year in Haskovo, when a long queue of interested people formed.
All those who will participate in the campaign agree to carry out the planting lawfully and in locations suitable for the respective tree species, in compliance with the provisions of the Biological Diversity Act, the Protected Areas Act, the Forest Act and any applicable legislation, including municipal regulations on the urban environment.
When: 15,000 trees will be gifted on 06.01.2024 (Saturday), from 09:00 to 12:00 in Kardzhali and from 13:30 to 16:30 on “Svoboda” Square in Haskovo.
