On 14 December, in the Aula of the Agricultural University – Plovdiv, 606 graduates from the Class of 2023 received their diplomas. Of these, 333 successfully completed their studies with the educational-qualification degree “Bachelor”, and 273 students obtained their educational-qualification degree “Master”. The top graduates of the class (bachelors and masters) are a total of 40 young agricultural specialists.
Before the packed Aula of the higher education institution, the Rector, Prof. Dr. Hristina Yancheva, expressed her satisfaction with the high achievements of the students who graduated this year. She reminded the graduates that, although they have successfully passed their final examinations at the University, they must always continue to learn and develop, because knowledge can change the world.
Greetings to the graduates were delivered by Stefan Dimitrov, Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Agricultural University and Executive Director of Neochim PLC, Prof. Dr. Lilyana Valcheva, Chair of the Higher Education Branch of CITUB, and Prof. Dr. Violeta Bozhanova, President of the Agricultural Academy.
The top graduates of the Class of 2023 with a GPA of 6.00 among the bachelors are Petya Raycheva and Tolga Mustafa, both majoring in “Agronomy (Field Crop Production)” from the Faculty of Agronomy, and among the masters there are 38 graduates with a perfect GPA.
Prof. Hristina Yancheva presented the “Rector’s Award” to Petar Andonov, majoring in Agronomy (Viticulture and Horticulture), Chair of the Student Council and member of the General Assembly and Academic Council of the Agricultural University, as well as of the Ethics Committee.
The traditional award “Most Successful Erasmus+ Student of the Class of 2023” was presented to Eliza Gerdzhikova, majoring in Viticulture and Horticulture, who demonstrated excellent results during her mobility periods, by Prof. Dr. Svetla Yancheva – Institutional Coordinator of the Erasmus+ Programme and Vice-Rector.
For the first time, a new award was presented for outstanding achievements of a distinguished graduate in research activity. The award was initiated by Prof. Dr. Vladislav Popov, Vice-Rector for Research and Project Activity, who presented a plaque and diploma to Sonya Milkova, majoring in Plant Protection, who worked on the topic: “QSAR Analysis of Pesticidal Active Substances”.
Official guests of the ceremony were Karina Angelieva, Head of the Cabinet of the Minister of Energy and Doctor Honoris Causa of the Agricultural University, the Chair of Plovdiv Municipal Council Atanas Uzunov, Deputy Regional Governor Dimitar Dobrev, Mayor of Trakia District Georgi Gatev, Secretary General of the National Agricultural Advisory Service Ivanka Todorova, Executive Director of the Center for Promotion of Cooperation in Agriculture between China and the Countries of Central and Eastern Europe – Dr. Momchil Stanishev, Vice-Rectors of higher education institutions in Plovdiv, representatives of the Board of Trustees of the Agricultural University – Plovdiv, and companies from the agrarian sector.
The top graduates also received material awards from partner companies of the Agricultural University – Summit Agro Romania SRL – Bulgaria Branch, Corteva, Syngenta, Bayer Bulgaria PLC, BASF, NIK, AMV – Agro.
Musical greetings to the graduates and guests were presented by students from the Academy of Music, Dance and Fine Arts “Prof. Asen Diamandiev” and by the folk dance ensemble “Trakia Youth” of the Agricultural University – Plovdiv.
