As already informed by the Plant Protection team, from April 16th to 18th in Veliko Tarnovo, the fifth edition of Vinobalcanica was held. The organizers of the wine competition, the Union of Oenologists in Bulgaria, aim to promote local Balkan varieties and introduce the general public to their potential and charm. The competition is directed towards new, still unknown territories for professional critics and enthusiasts from around the world. The focus is not on the precise winemaking of already well-known varieties with a traditional market presence, but on building identity through local varieties that could be competitive with wines from old Europe.
