On most days at the end of August, the agrometeorological conditions will continue to be determined by hot and dry weather. The forecast maximum temperatures, in places reaching and exceeding 37°C, will accelerate the completion of the final stages of development of the late spring crops.

The early maize hybrids have completed their development and are at full maturity. In the medium-late hybrids, wax maturity will be observed (Buzovets, Nikolaevo, Kazanlak), and in the late ones – milk maturity (agrometeorological stations Targovishte, Plovdiv, Pazardzhik).

In sunflower, ripening will be in progress. Harvesting of the crop should be carried out at a seed moisture content of around 8% in order to ensure durable and high-quality storage.

In vineyards in the southern regions, berry colouring will be observed – agrometeorological stations Sliven, Lyubimets, Haskovo, Chirpan, Plovdiv. In this phase, after rainfall events, plant protection treatments are aimed at protecting the grapes from infection with grey mould.

At the end of the period, a change in the agrometeorological conditions will occur from west to east – lower temperatures and local precipitation are forecast. In the areas where no precipitation occurs, the lack of soil moisture will hinder primary and pre-sowing tillage operations and the sowing of winter oilseed rape. The degree of fire hazard will remain high there.
