The Agricultural Academy has a new chairman and three scientific-coordination centers in the field of agriculture.

At the end of March, Prof. Totka Trifonova was appointed Chairperson of the Agricultural Academy. Until now, she held the position of Director of the "Nikola Pushkarov" Institute of Soil Science, Agrotechnologies and Plant Protection. By education, she is an agronomist specializing in "Plant Protection" and has over 160 scientific publications in the field of agriculture, and is a member of various specialized scientific councils.
Parallel to the change of the previous chairperson, the Agricultural Academy also established three scientific-coordination centers aimed at improving and strengthening cooperation between the different structures within the Academy, achieving an effective system for scientific research, accelerated transfer of knowledge into practice, and commercialization of scientific products.
- Center for Research and Innovation in Agriculture, Food and Sustainable Resource Management;
- Center for Research and Innovation in Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Aquaculture;
- Center for Genetic Research and Breeding Network in Agriculture.
An increase in the potential of the academic staff in priority areas of scientific research, the building of effective technological platforms, and the possibility for development towards competence centers is expected.
