Golden peaches from the village of Gavrailovo

In the village of Gavrailovo, Sliven region, from 25 to 27 July, the traditional summer event for the region „Golden Peach 2023“ will be held.

Every year the festival brings together peach producers from all over the country, experts from scientific institutes, as well as admirers of the sweet fruit.

The official ceremony on the occasion of the „Golden Peach 2023“ festival will be opened on 27 July at 09:30 a.m. on the square in front of the municipal building. The event is held under the patronage of the Minister of Agriculture and Food.

After the official opening of the festival, a seminar will be held on the topic „Problems related to frost damage in permanent crops and optimisation of plant protection“, as well as discussions and lectures on the state of fruit growing in the country, challenges and new opportunities for young farmers. Lecturers will be experts from the Fruit Growing Institute in Plovdiv and the National Agricultural Advisory Service.

Later, representatives of plant protection companies in the country will present plant protection in permanent crops.

An interesting highlight of the peach festival is the demonstration of agricultural machinery, attached equipment and a drip irrigation system, as well as a competition for the best-maintained fruit-bearing peach orchard.

A special programme is dedicated to the children and guests of the village of Gavrailovo. It includes exhibitions of artists, of participants in an amateur photography contest on the topic „The Most Delicious Bulgarian Peach“, an exhibition of drawings on the topic „Peach“, and an exhibition on the topic „The Peach – Past, Present, Future“. For those who wish to deepen their culinary knowledge, a demonstration is planned on how peach jam is made.

The event is organised by Sliven Municipality, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Forestry, the mayor’s office and the community centre „Slantse 1928“ in Gavrailovo, the Fruit Growing Institute in Plovdiv, the Peach Producers’ Organisation „Bulgarian Peach“ Ltd., and the National Agricultural Advisory Service.

In connection with the upcoming „Golden Peach“ festival in the village of Gavrailovo, Sliven Municipality, the Mayor of Gavrailovo – Mr. Dimitar Andreev – invites all amateur folklore clubs, professionals, amateurs and admirers of Bulgarian folk music, songs and dances on 27.07.2023 at 8:00 p.m. „On the Square“ in front of the Community Centre, together with the singers and musicians from the Valley of the Peaches, to make the festival even more beautiful, exciting and unique!
