„The Orchard of Bulgaria" opens its doors to welcome its guests between 23 and 25 June. We expect all lovers of cherries and cherry treasures this year as well to become part of the most delicious and colourful festival in Bulgaria! By tradition, the Institute of Agriculture in Kyustendil will present the diversity and innovations in cherry production in the region.
On Friday evening, 23 June 2023, the "Cherry Festival" in Kyustendil begins with a Culinary Exhibition, cherry eating contest, children’s entertainment and a concert programme featuring Mihaela Marinova and TINO. Dozens of culinary experts will present their dishes and specialities in the competition "Cherries in the Kitchen", whose guest host will be Dragomir Draganov.
The official opening of the festival is on Saturday at 11:00 a.m.
By tradition, the Institute of Agriculture in Kyustendil will present the diversity and innovations in cherry production in the region.
More than 40 artistically arranged stands will recreate the cherry-themed creativity of Kyustendil’s "masters". All of them will be part of an art exhibition, which will continue until 18:00 p.m., when the awards for the distinguished participants will be presented. In the festive daytime programme, the Professional Brass Band of Kyustendil Municipality, the National School of Dance Art, Sofia, and the most prominent folklore performers from the town will take part. The events on Saturday will conclude with a concert by "Legends".
Sunday is dedicated to the youngest guests of the festival
National Geographic Kids visits Kyustendil with the "Little Explorers" Club; engaging cherry-themed games and children’s entertainment will accompany the events, and the "cherry on the cake" will be the demonstration and tasting of cherry jam!
During the three festive days, a bazaar of Kyustendil cherries will be held with the participation of local agricultural producers, and traders and artisans from all over the country will present their masterful products.
