Scientists from several continents will visit Bulgaria on 25–27 September 2023, when Plovdiv will host the second edition of the International Conference on Plant Systems Biology and Biotechnology (ICPSBB 2023). The conference is the largest international event in this scientific field in the country and will attract scientists from Bulgaria, Italy, Spain, Belgium, the Netherlands, China, New Zealand, South Africa, Germany, Israel, and others.
ICPSBB 2023 is an initiative of the Center of Plant Systems Biology and Biotechnology (CPSBB). This is the first Bulgarian Centre of Excellence in the field of plant biology and biotechnology, funded by the EC under the Teaming programme of “Horizon 2020” and co-funded by the Operational Programme “Science and Education for Smart Growth”.
The event will feature lecture panels, poster exhibitions and a discussion forum, within which the participants will exchange knowledge and experience on the development of plant sciences in Bulgaria and worldwide. The main topics of the conference include abiotic and oxidative stress in plants, bioinformatics and computer modelling, plant biotechnology, genetics and genomics, molecular biology, plant development, plant systems biology, evolutionary biology, and others.
The conference is organized by CPSBB for the second time and it is expected this year to bring together representatives of the academic community, agricultural producers and private companies from Bulgaria and abroad, providing a platform for presentations and discussions in various scientific fields of significance for scientists, business and society as a whole.
Center of Plant Systems Biology and Biotechnology in Bulgaria – science at a world-class level
“We are proud to have the opportunity to attract renowned scientists who will come to Bulgaria and exchange experience and knowledge with colleagues from the country. The contribution of Bulgarian scientists to this exchange is significant, and the expertise of the researchers at CPSBB is evidence of Bulgaria’s potential to develop world-class science,” emphasizes Prof. Tsanko Gechev, Director of CPSBB and organizer of the conference.
The conference will take place from 25 to 27 September 2023 in the newly built research complex of CPSBB in Plovdiv.
