“Tulip Parade” at the University Botanical Garden Balchik has begun with the earliest tulip cultivars - “Salmon van Eijk", "Purissima", "Viking", "Lady van Eijk", "Apricot beauty", "Dancing queen" and others.

During the Easter holidays, the “Tulip Parade” is expected to be at its peak. The tulips in Balchik are over 57,000 in number, from a total of 85 cultivars. The new tulip cultivars for the garden are 47 from all groups and classes.

The Gardens of the Tulip

With a rich palette of colours and aromas, the phased flowering of the collection “Tulips of Varna” has also begun at the University Botanical Garden Ecopark Varna. In the autumn of last year, over 50,000 tulip bulbs from more than 70 cultivars were planted, which are already welcoming the spring with their diverse colours and forms.

The tulip collection is combined with two cultivars of dog’s-tooth violet.

Interesting cultivars that can be observed this year in Ecopark Varna are “Honeymoon“, “Lambada“ and “Labrador“ from the “Fringed“ group. A characteristic feature of these tulips are the fringed petals, which emphasize the beauty of the flower. The elegant tulips from the “Triumph“ group, the delicate Darwin tulip “Apricot Impression“ and many other cultivars adorn the University Botanical Garden Ecopark Varna.
Their flowering peak is expected from mid-April to the beginning of May.
The University Botanical Garden Ecopark Varna is open for visits every day in April from 8:00 to 18:00 and from 8:00 to 19:00 in May.
