NSSI supports young farmers with information focusing on the cultivation of medicinal plants

On March 26, a joint information meeting - seminar was held in the town of Stamboliyski, Plovdiv region, with experts from the regional office of the National Agricultural Advisory Service (NAAS) and the "Information and Environmental Protection" Foundation.

Under the project "Promoting the Sustainable Use of Herbs in Bulgaria", co-financed by the European Commission's LIFE+ Programme, the National Agricultural Advisory Service, together with the "Information and Environmental Protection" Foundation, today organized a seminar in Plovdiv on the topic: "Sustainable use of medicinal plants, possibilities for their cultivation, quality requirements for herbs for export and processing, and good practices". The discussion at the end of the meeting was accompanied by individual consultations with agricultural producers.

A general overview was also conducted of Sub-measure 4.1 "Investments in agricultural holdings", Sub-measure 6.1 "Start-up aid for young farmers" and Sub-measure 6.3 "Start-up aid for small farms" under the RDP 2014-2020, with an emphasis on the possibilities for cultivating medicinal plants.

The entire week will be dedicated to advice on growing medicinal herbs, with experts accordingly consulting interested parties on how to collect and process quality herbs at a good price, as well as on cultivation technologies for medicinal plants in Karlovo, Kaloyanovo, Parvomay, Stamboliyski, and the village of Stryama.
