Three Wines Received the Golden Rhyton Award at Vinaria 2015

At a ceremonial event on March 4th, within the Vinaria exhibition, which was part of the Agria 2015 exhibition, two wines from Bulgaria and one from the Czech Republic were awarded. The Golden Rhyton was awarded to Excentric Incanto Chardonnay & Sauvignon Blanc from the Bulgarian winery Medi Valley, Sommelier Select Riesling Vlaški, a late harvest wine from the Davinus winery - Czech Republic, and Merlot Special Reserve 2010 from Vinal, Lovech. The wine Oscars were presented by the Director of the Executive Agency on Vine and Wine, Eng. Krasimir Koev, the Chairman of the National Vine and Wine Chamber Radoslav Radev, and the Executive Director of the International Fair Plovdiv Bogomil Bonev.

For the first time at Vinaria 2015, the Winery of the Year award was presented to the Edoardo Mirolio winery. The initiative is from the National Vine and Wine Chamber and is carried out with the assistance of the Chamber of Architects in Bulgaria. Eng. Bozhidar Donkov from the Executive Agency on Vine and Wine was announced as the Oenologist of Vinaria 2015.

The criteria for awarding the prize are extremely strict. The Golden Rhyton is given to only one wine in a group, but only on the condition that at least one of the samples has received over 90 points out of a maximum of 100. Otherwise, the prize is not awarded.

This year, an international jury from Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Romania, the Czech Republic, Poland, Belgium, and Bulgaria tasted over 250 samples in three categories - white, rosé, and red, with each category having two subgroups - for young and for aged wines.
