Time for harvest

During the last week of June, the development of agricultural crops will proceed at an accelerated pace at temperatures around and above the climatic norms. The above-normal rainfall during the second ten-day period of the month increased soil moisture reserves and improved the conditions for the vegetation processes of spring crops.

During the next seven-day period, sunflower in the Danube Plain and in the central regions of Southern Bulgaria will enter the stage of inflorescence formation. In maize, depending on sowing dates and hybrid earliness, leaf formation and tasseling will take place. In the field areas of the country, barley is at full ripeness. In wheat, the stages of wax ripeness and full ripeness will be observed.

During most days of the period, in the regions of Western Bulgaria, conditions will allow the implementation of seasonal agrotechnical activities, the most important of which is the harvesting of ripe barley crops. The forecast precipitation during the period in Eastern and Central Bulgaria will limit the possibilities for carrying out plant protection spraying against scab, late brown rot and fruit moths in orchards; against downy mildew, powdery mildew and against the caterpillars of the second generation of the European grapevine moth in vineyards.
