Innovations in Agriculture – Karnobat

On 08.06.2022, after a two-year break, the traditional open day „Innovations in Agriculture“ was held at the Institute of Agriculture, Karnobat. Companies engaged in the manufacture of agricultural machinery, trade in organic and bacterial fertilizers and plant protection products, seeds, a research and technology center, and others took part in the event. Among the first visitors to the forum were students from the Vocational High School of Agriculture in the town. The Director of the Institute welcomed them warmly and wished them to continue working in the field of agriculture in the future. Guests at the event were agricultural producers, researchers from related institutes within the system of the Agricultural Academy, colleagues and guests from the Republic of Turkey, with whom the Institute has long-standing cooperation and who, on the basis of licensing agreements, carry out seed production of barley, oats and wheat varieties.

The „Open Day“ is a tradition that has existed for nearly 40 years. The Institute of Agriculture - Karnobat is the only one in Southeastern Bulgaria and is a natural center where the interests of researchers intersect with those of business, producers, students and school pupils. „Our common goal is to support the development of agriculture in Bulgaria“, said the Director of the Institute of Agriculture - Karnobat at the beginning of the event.

In the hall of the Institute, the companies participating in the open day presented their innovative products for plant protection and plant nutrition.

Prof. Dr. Darina Valcheva presented the new barley and oat varieties of the Institute, as well as the Variety List for the 2022/2023 season, consisting of authentic, high-quality seeds of barley, oats and wheat that will be offered on the market.

The “Open Day“ also included a tour of the experimental field of the Institute, where farmers and guests were shown barley, oats and wheat varieties, innovative approaches in crop cultivation technology, and the effect of combinations of plant protection products and organic and bacterial fertilizers.
