Agricultural University and the Center of Plant Systems Biology and Biotechnology signed a memorandum of cooperation

The Rector of the Agricultural University Prof. Dr. Hristina Yancheva and the Director of the Center of Plant Systems Biology and Biotechnology Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tsanko Gechev signed a memorandum of cooperation and joint scientific and educational activities on the International Fascination of Plants Day, 18 May.

The objectives of the cooperation are the development of joint Master’s and PhD programmes, joint scientific activities, research and project development, as well as the organization of events, discussions and trainings. An exchange of academic staff, as well as student internships and practical placements, is also planned.

Center of Plant Systems Biology and Biotechnology in Bulgaria – science at a world-class level

The Center of Plant Systems Biology and Biotechnology (CPSBB) is a new research organization for cutting-edge studies in the field of plant biology. CPSBB combines classical physiological and genetic approaches with modern technologies for genomic and bioinformatics analysis in order to understand how plants respond as integrated, complex systems.

CPSBB was established in Plovdiv with the support of the PlantaSYST project, under the “Teaming“ financial instrument of the EU Horizon 2020 Programme. The project consortium consists of six research organizations, including the University of Potsdam and the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Plant Physiology in Potsdam-Golm, with the newly established CPSBB serving as the coordinating institution.
