New maize hybrids from Kneja

The Maize Research Institute – Kneja offers eight new maize hybrids to farmers in 2022. These are Kneja 568, Kneja 570A, Kneja 571, Kneja 572, Kneja 573, Kneja 575, Kneja 649 and Kneja 651. The hybrids have been developed in response to farmers’ demand for genotypes that are resistant to economically important diseases and pests, high-yielding, stress-tolerant and with a rapid rate of moisture release from the grain.

The 2022 Catalogue of the Maize Research Institute. includes eight new maize hybrids, reports the Agricultural Academy.

The breeding of the Bulgarian hybrids Kneja 568, Kneja 570A, Kneja 571, Kneja 572, Kneja 573, Kneja 575, Kneja 649 and Kneja 651 has a regional character and an environmental focus, which makes them suitable for cultivation in the country.

Along with the new products on the market, the well-known and preferred Kneja 310, Kneja 317, Kneja 320, Kneja 435, Kneja 442, Kneja 461, Kneja 509, Kneja 517, Kneja 560, Kneja 561, Kneja 564, Kneja 565 and the highly demanded silage hybrids Kneja M 625, Kneja 648, Kneja 683 A, Kneja 651, as well as the special Sugar 1 and Popping 1B, will also be available. The seeds are certified, authentic and of high quality from the 2021 harvest.

Most of the hybrids were registered after two years of testing at the Executive Agency for Variety Testing, Approbation and Seed Control (IASAS), due to the convincing results they demonstrated.

They have received gold awards in innovation competitions and have been distinguished by the Union of Inventors in Bulgaria.
