National Beekeeping Programme for the period 2020 – 2022

The Beekeeping Programme for the three-year period 2020 – 2022 is in compliance with Regulation (EU) No 1308/2013 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 17.12.2013 establishing a common organisation of the markets in agricultural products and repealing Council Regulations (EEC) No 922/72, (EEC) No 234/79, (EC) No 1037/2001 and (EC) No 1234/2007. The Programme includes all actions provided for in the aforementioned Regulation.

The objectives of the Programme include improving the conditions for the production and marketing of honey and other apiculture products, enhancing the knowledge and skills of beekeepers in the management of bee colonies, improving the quality and competitiveness of Bulgarian apiculture products, conserving the Bulgarian honeybee, ensuring the sustainable development of the sector, as well as providing better employment and higher incomes for beekeepers.

The Programme contains, respectively, an assessment of the results achieved so far during the implementation of the National Beekeeping Programme 2017/2020, a description of the method used to determine the number of beehives, the state of the beekeeping sector in Bulgaria, a description of the measures and activities applied, general financial conditions and expected results, as well as the mechanism for implementation of the Programme.
