Tobacco producers will receive support under the de minimis scheme

Tobacco producers will receive support in the amount of BGN 3 million under the de minimis scheme. The decision to grant the state aid was taken at a regular meeting of the Management Board of the State Fund „Agriculture“. The funds have been approved under Regulation (EU) No 1408/2013 of 18 December 2013, as amended by Regulation (EU) No 316/2019, for supporting registered tobacco producers for part of their production costs.

Eligible for support are tobacco producers included in the Register of Tobacco Producers for 2021. Applicants under the scheme must have recorded quantities of marketed production in the Register of Tobacco Producers for 2020.

The acceptance of applications for support is expected to be opened by the end of the current year. The aid will be granted at the beginning of 2022 due to the national de minimis limit for the current year having been reached and the impossibility of paying the support in 2021.

The total amount of aid granted to a single person or undertaking under the de minimis scheme may not exceed the BGN equivalent of EUR 25,000 for a period of three consecutive financial years.

The State Fund „Agriculture“, together with the competent directorates in the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Forestry, will prepare guidelines for granting the aid.
