As of 11 October 2021 the State Fund “Agriculture” is launching the acceptance of applications under the scheme “Aid for compensating the expenses of farmers related to the implementation of measures under the National Programme for Pest Control in Permanent Crops during the Winter Period”. The application period will continue until 29 October 2021.
Applications will be accepted for the purchase of plant protection products and products for accelerating the processes of leaf decay in fruit species, which are applied in the autumn – during the period of mass leaf fall. The deadline for reporting the activities is 15 November, and the funds will be paid by 10 December.
The financial support amounts to up to 100 leva per hectare, VAT included. It is important to note that support is provided for incurred expenses for plant protection products that have been made after submission of a written application to the SFA, before the activity under the respective stage of pest control has commenced.
The funds are paid only for plant protection products purchased from persons who are traders within the meaning of the Commerce Act and hold a certificate for trading in plant protection products. Another requirement is that they must be included in the public register of the BFSA for plant protection products authorised for use.
The scheme aims to minimise the losses of farmers resulting from the spread of pests in permanent crops. The financial resource under it for the current year amounts to 6 million leva. Part of the funds were disbursed in the spring. They covered incurred expenses for plant protection activities in permanent crops in the period after the end of frosts until bud swelling. At that time, 3,479 producers growing permanent fruit crops, oil-bearing rose, strawberries and raspberries received 4.7 million leva (4,707,535 leva).
