The September 2021 issue of the journal "Plant Protection" has been published.
In the feature topic of the issue we present the Institute of Viticulture and Enology in Pleven, which was established in 1902 as a State Experimental Station for Viticulture and Enology in connection with the phylloxera crisis and the mass destruction of vineyards in Bulgaria. Initially created out of the necessity to save viticulture in our country, the station gradually succeeded in establishing Bulgarian viticulture at a European level through the introduction of the then unknown technology for the production of grapevine planting material.
In its 120-year history, the Institute of Viticulture and Enology – Pleven has gone through various stages of development, but throughout its long journey over time it has always been the center of research work in viticulture and enology in the country. In this issue you can read the entire history of the Institute and follow its development chronologically, as well as learn what the researchers there focus their work processes on.
