New lavender varieties suitable for cultivation in Bulgaria – creation, selection and qualities

On 18 June 2021 (Friday) from 11:00 a.m. at the Institute of Roses and Essential Oil Crops (IREMC) – Kazanlak, a joint information seminar will be held, organized by NAAS (Territorial Regional Office – Stara Zagora) and the Institute of Roses and Essential Oil Crops – Kazanlak on the topic: “New lavender varieties suitable for cultivation in Bulgaria. Establishment, breeding and qualities.“

During the seminar, the participants will become acquainted with new lavender varieties suitable for cultivation in Bulgaria, the technology for their cultivation, their breeding methods and their main qualities. They will also have the opportunity to view some of them on site. In addition, farmers will be informed about the possibilities for support to agricultural holdings under Sub-measure 6.3 “Start-up aid for the development of small farms“ of the Rural Development Programme (RDP) 2014-2020.

The main topics of the information seminar are as follows:

New lavender varieties suitable for cultivation in Bulgaria, establishment, breeding and quality;

Possibilities for support to agricultural holdings under Sub-measure 6.3 “Start-up aid for the development of small farms“ of the Rural Development Programme (RDP) 2014-2020;

Demonstration of new lavender varieties suitable for cultivation in Bulgaria – at the experimental field of IREMC – Kazanlak.

The information seminar is organized by the National Agricultural Advisory Service (Territorial Regional Office (TRO) – Stara Zagora) and the Agricultural Academy (Institute of Roses and Essential Oil Crops (IREMC) – Kazanlak).

The National Agricultural Advisory Service (NAAS) is resuming in-person information and training events as of 19 May 2021.

The National Agricultural Advisory Service (NAAS) is resuming the holding of in-person information and training events in 2021 with research institutes, research and applied organizations and other institutions and experts in order to facilitate the transfer of knowledge and technologies from the scientific community to farmers, while observing all anti-epidemic measures applicable to such types of events.

Simultaneously with the in-person seminars and on-site demonstrations at agricultural holdings, NAAS will continue to organize online seminars (via an online platform). Video recordings of the online seminars held are uploaded to the YouTube channel of NAAS.

The in-person holding of outreach reception days in various settlements around the country is also being resumed.
