70 years with a view to the future – anniversary celebration of the Dobrudzha Agricultural Institute

On 10 June 2021 a jubilee celebration “70 Years with a View to the Future” will be held at the Dobrudzha Agricultural Institute. The Dobrudzha Agricultural Institute is a proven leader in Bulgarian agricultural science and practice. In it, the Bulgarian farmer has found a reliable partner and a guarantor of security in agriculture, and the scientific products created at the Institute have long been known beyond the borders of Bulgaria and Europe.

The development of agricultural science in Dobrudzha is inextricably linked with the establishment of the Dobrudzha Agricultural Institute in 1951 and its growth as a national research centre. It is the successor to the activities of the Agricultural Experimental Institute in the town of Dobrich, founded in 1941 with the status of an experimental station, which laid the foundations of agricultural scientific research in Dobrudzha.

The years that have passed since then to the present day have left their indelible mark in time through the creative achievements of several generations of scientists who have devoted their entire conscious lives and energy to the pursuit of creating something significant and have received well-deserved recognition for the scientific heritage they have bequeathed. What has been built by the generations before us morally obliges us to be their faithful followers. Therefore, we, their descendants, follow a path marked by constant quest, new discoveries and tangible achievements, proving that we are needed by our country and by the society in which we live.

With what has been achieved over the years, we have worthily crossed the threshold of the third millennium, preserving the rich scientific heritage and traditions of agricultural science in Dobrudzha, enriching it with new ideas and tangible scientific products.

By marking the jubilee anniversary, we express our respect and gratitude to the thousands of scientists, specialists, workers and employees of the Dobrudzha Agricultural Institute who have worked selflessly for its establishment, development and consolidation as a research centre and have left a lasting mark in the history of agricultural science in Dobrudzha.

The journal “Plant Protection” is participating through the publication of a jubilee booklet on the Institute’s activities and achievements.
