Despite the expected snowfall in the mountains and the forecasted cooling at the beginning of April, the agrometeorological conditions will be determined by average daily temperature values that will allow the active course of vegetation processes in agricultural crops. At the beginning of April, critical minimum temperatures for the fruit species that are advanced in their phenological development are not forecast.
During the period, the wheat and barley in Southern Bulgaria will be at the stem elongation stage. In the crops in the Danube Plain, the tillering stage, transition to stem elongation and beginning of stem elongation will occur. For the fruit species, the observed phenological phases will be bud burst, budding and flowering. In the vine, sap flow and bud swelling will take place.
During the period, conditions will be created for carrying out the seasonal agrotechnical operations – sowing of sunflower and pre-sowing soil preparations for spring crops. In the permanent crops, treatments will continue against scab in pome fruit species, against blossom blight (early brown rot) and shot hole in stone fruit species, and leaf curl in peach. To achieve maximum effect of the spraying, plant protection activities should be carried out in calm weather with an admissible wind speed of up to 2–3 m/s.
The forecast precipitation during the first days of the period will temporarily limit the possibilities for carrying out agrotechnical activities.
