The current year 2020 has presented us with many challenges, headed by the coronavirus crisis, and is shaping up to be weaker compared to the successful year 2019 for agriculture. The main reason is the drought in many regions of the country, including Dobrudzha and Southeastern Bulgaria. In these difficult times, every farmer is faced with the challenge of how to increase the yield and quality of their production while at the same time preserving soil fertility. The answer is one – the use of the uniquely formulated biostimulant AMALGEROL ESSENCE, which acts simultaneously on the soil, the roots and the plants.

In April, negative temperatures were also recorded, which further complicated the situation. The results demonstrated how AMALGEROL ESSENCE successfully copes with frost damage in fruit trees and vineyards. Frost destroys the pistils of the flower buds. Farmers avoided this situation by treating with the biostimulant, which transfers antioxidants into the plant and thereby strengthens its self-defense mechanism. In addition, the product stimulates the nutritional metabolism of the plants for faster regeneration and protects the crop.

During the current year AMALGEROL ESSENCE showed very good results by increasing the quantity and quality of the yield of sunflower and maize. Based on many years of trials carried out in Bulgarian institutes and on the experience of the farmers who have placed their trust in AMALGEROL ESSENCE, we observe an increase in oil content in sunflower and in oleic acid in high-oleic sunflower hybrids.

AMALGEROL ESSENCE also delivers excellent results in maize, with one or two applications depending on the farmer’s production technology. In the event of spring drought, treatment with AMALGEROL ESSENCE allows maize to cope with stress and to overcome drought with minimal damage thanks to the antioxidants contained in the product. Through the second treatment, maize tolerates the droughts in July and August better and yields are 15–20% higher. The application rate is 200 ml/ha.

The effect of the biostimulant was indisputably proven in a situation of treating sunflower with the wrong herbicide in the region of Svilengrad. A farmer from the Svilengrad region relied precisely on the Clearfield technology for tolerant sunflower hybrids. Due to an error, an area of 300 ha was treated with a herbicide based on the active substance tribenuron-methyl, which is used for Express-tolerant sunflower hybrids. The damage was severe, but the farmer opted for a double application of AMALGEROL ESSENCE. Only 20 days after the first treatment with the biostimulant, the results were evident: the leaf mass had increased, the plants were healthy and vigorous, the colour of the leaves was deep green and there were no signs of yellowing or stress.

In 2020 we presented the product in a new light through an example that demonstrated the key role of AMALGEROL ESSENCE in weed control in maize. The results from a field treated with a herbicide in combination with AMALGEROL ESSENCE show active uptake of nutrients from the soil 10–15 times faster compared to normal conditions, because the use of the biostimulant multiplies the root volume many times over. As a result, maize plants use nutrients and water more efficiently and increase in size, while weeds absorb the herbicide more actively, which leads to their faster demise. The results are astonishing – 48 hours after treatment a visible effect on the weeds is observed, and after 4 days they have almost disappeared.

The annual application of AMALGEROL ESSENCE (for at least 3 consecutive years) leads to a reduction in soil resistance during tillage, which significantly reduces operating costs for cultivation – saving fuel, spare parts, labour and time.
