At the end of April, the development of agricultural crops proceeded under average daily temperatures close to and above the climatic norm. In many parts of the country (Vidin, Kneja, Dobrich, Shumen, Kyustendil, Stara Zagora, Kazanlak, Chirpan, Shumen, Kardzhali, Elhovo) negative minimum temperatures were recorded and frosts occurred.
The thermal conditions at the end of the month are determined by average daily temperatures close to the norm and ensure normal rates of development of agricultural crops. Negative minimum temperatures and the risk of frost formation and damage to fruit tree species are possible. Precipitation of agricultural significance for the arable areas of the country is not forecast. In the extreme northeastern parts this will lead to a deepening of the soil moisture deficit. In wheat stands the stem elongation stage will be widely observed, and in rapeseed the phenophases of budding and flowering will occur. In spring crops (maize and sunflower), depending on the sowing dates, the emergence and leaf formation stages will occur. In fruit tree species, flowering and leafing will continue.
For most of the period, suitable conditions are forecast for carrying out spring sowing and soil tillage operations. In stone fruit species in the flowering stage, spraying against brown rot is carried out. Treatments must be performed during the hours when bees are not flying. Showers and impediments to agrotechnical operations and plant protection activities are possible at the end of the period in the western regions of the country.
