During the second ten-day period of December, the agrometeorological conditions will be determined by weather that is mild for the season. In the field areas of the country, positive minimum temperatures are forecast, as well as mean daily values around and above the biological minimum required for the resumption of vegetative processes in the winter cereal crops. Conditions for delayed vegetation in wheat and barley will occur mainly in the southern regions and along the Black Sea coast. At the end of the second ten-day period, the third leaf growth stage will predominate in the winter cereal crops. The stands sown in November are not well established and are in the emergence and initial leaf formation stages. Wheat in the tillering stage, which is a prerequisite for successful overwintering, is found in part of the eastern regions (Glavinitsa, Silistra, Tsarev Brod, D. Chiflik, Karnobat) and in places in the Danube Plain (Novachene).
As a result of the prolonged autumn drought, wheat stands have uneven density. It varies from 350 to 550–600 plants per square metre.
In oilseed rape, only part of the stands formed a rosette during their autumn vegetation, a growth stage in which the plants overwinter successfully.
No significant precipitation is forecast during the period, and in many places in the field areas the conditions will allow the performance of deep ploughing of the areas designated for spring crops. In the southern regions, the upcoming period is suitable for carrying out pre-winter sowing of some cold-tolerant vegetable crops – peas, faba beans, carrots and others.
