For the eighth consecutive year, on 25 July in the village of Gavrailovo, Municipality of Sliven, the festival „Golden Peach – 2019” will be held.
At the Peach Festival in the Municipality of Sliven there will be a seminar at which the following topics will be addressed:
1. Status and trends in peach production – with the participation of leading experts from the Fruit Growing Institute in the city of Plovdiv.
2. Lecture by the NAAS in support of small agricultural holdings, including preparation of project proposals under Sub-measure 6.3 „Start-up aid for the development of small farms” and Sub-measure 4.2.2 "„Investments in processing–marketing of agricultural products under the Thematic Sub-programme“ of the RDP 2014-2020"
3. Presentation of project NEFERTITI „Networking European Farms to Enhance Cross Fertilisation of Knowledge and Innovation Uptake through Demonstration under Horizon 2020 and the benefits of the project for farmers, including:
- presentation of the main topics and demonstration activities of the Bulgaria hub of Network 07 „Improving nutrient use efficiency in horticulture";
- presentation of the main topics and demonstration activities of the Bulgaria hub of Network 09 „Reducing the use of pesticides in grape, fruit and vegetable production“;
- presentation of a video material recorded during a demonstration event on the topics of the two networks.
4. During the festival a discussion will be held and plant protection products for peach production will be presented.
5. Part of the programme also includes a visit to a peach preparation line for export „Bulgarian Peach“, a demonstration of agricultural machinery, mounted implements and a drip irrigation system.
The guests of the event will have the opportunity to take part in the various competitions which will also be held on 25 July in the village of Gavrailovo.
„The Golden Peach“ will be closed with a special evening with the singers and musicians from the Valley of the Peaches.
The organisers of the event are the Municipality of Sliven, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Forestry, the Mayor’s Office in the village of Gavrailovo, the Community Centre “Slantse 1928” in the village of Gavrailovo, the Fruit Growing Institute in the city of Plovdiv, the Peach Producers’ Organisation „Bulgarian Peach“ Ltd. and the National Agricultural Advisory Service.
