Diseases and pests of strawberry and raspberry in May

In the case of raspberry the sprays are directed against didymella, anthracnose, drying of the shoot bases/leptosphaeriosis/, grey mould, raspberry agrilus, raspberry gall midge, raspberry gall and raspberry beetle. Against the diseases one of the following fungicides is used:  Dithane M45 – 0.2%, Kocide 200 WG – 0.12%, Funguran OH 50 WP – 0.15% and Cuprozet Gold M – 0.15%. For the control of raspberry pests there is no insecticide included in the list of authorised plant protection products. According to Tsolova, 2002,  the insecticides Bi-58 – 0.1%, Karate Zeon – 0.02%, Vaztak New – 0.015% and Decis 2.5 EC – 0.04% are effective against the indicated pests. The author recommends that the first two insecticides be used at the first spraying, and the other two at the second spraying. Upon the occurrence of mites, NeemAzal TS is applied at a concentration of 0.3–0.5%. This bioproduct also affects aphids and leafhoppers.

Strawberry plantations in May are sprayed against grey mould, powdery mildew, strawberry weevil and strawberry stem weevil. Against grey mould one of the following fungicides is used: Switch 62.5 WG – 100 g/da, Signum WG – 75 g/da, Synpro SC – 150 ml/da, Captan – 150 g/da, Thiram 80 WG – 0.3%, Shavit F WDG – 0.2%, Prolectus 50 WG – 80–120 g/da. To protect strawberry from powdery mildew, spraying is carried out with one of the approved fungicides: Systhane 20 EW – 30 ml/da, Systhane Ecozon EW – 55–130 ml/da, Cidely Top DC – 10 ml/da, Ortiva Top SC – 100 ml/da, Shavit F 72 WDG – 0.2%, Thiovit Jet 80 WG – 500 g/da. Of the listed fungicides, Cidely Top DC is also effective against white leaf spot.

Against weevils, Avant 150 EC – 25 ml/da or Calypso 480 SC – 20 ml/da is used.
