Issue 5/2018 of the journal „Plant Protection” is expected to be published on 8 June. The topic of the issue is the walnut, diseases and pests of nut crops, and walnut cultivars that are promising for our country.
In issue 5 we will introduce you to the new disease of Scots pine, Scirrhia acicola, the causal agent of brown needle spot of pine. The disease was established for the first time in 2017 in the region of Kardzhali.
Interest in the topic of strawberry in issue 3/2018 was very high and, at the request of the readers, in the present issue we continue with two more pests. Woodlice attack mainly vegetable and soft fruit gardens and create considerable problems for strawberry producers. Strawberries are also damaged by foliar and root nematodes, which are spread through planting material.
In June it is important not to discontinue plant protection practices in the orchard, because this is when cherries, sour cherries and strawberries ripen massively, as well as early raspberry, apricot, peach, pear and apple cultivars. Care for protecting the fruit yield and the trees continues. In our monthly calendar we have also prepared a protection system for cucurbit crops, useful and practical for every vegetable producer.
In this issue we will introduce you to Dimo Dimov, a farmer from the town of Sungurlare, Burgas region, who believes that the most solid business in Bulgaria is agriculture and devotes all his energy and time to the development of his vineyards and orchards. Agriculture is 100% love!
One of the leading figures in Bulgarian plant protection turned 50 in May. On the occasion of Assoc. Prof. Miroslav Tityanov’s anniversary, the journal „Plant Protection” spoke with him about his personal path in agricultural circles, about the trends and prospects of today’s market for agrochemicals, fertilizers and seeds, about fair and unfair competition, about distributors who play a key role in the plant protection products business and, of course, about the introduction of digitalization and innovation in agriculture.
This year the national demonstration trials of the company Bayer were positioned at three locations – the village of Byalo pole, Stara Zagora region, the village of Pop Grigorovo, Dobrich region, and the town of Kneža. In this issue we cover the structure, format, vision and technical results of the meeting in Kneža. Host of this event was Krasimir Pelovski, one of the most successful Bulgarian farmers.
