During the first ten days of October, the agrometeorological conditions will undergo a significant change. The expected substantial precipitation at the beginning of the period, up to 40 l/m2 over most of the country, with the exception of the extreme northwestern regions, will improve soil moisture and the conditions for the progress of the initial stages of development of the sown winter rapeseed crops. The conditions for higher-quality implementation of seasonal soil tillage operations will also improve.
During the period, the optimal agrotechnical time frame for sowing winter cereal crops (wheat and barley) for the regions of Northern Bulgaria is ongoing. More favorable conditions for carrying out seasonal agrotechnical activities for soil cultivation and fertilization of areas intended for winter and spring crops, as well as for autumn treatment of weedy stands with herbicides to destroy competing weed vegetation, will be established during the second half of the period. The same applies to the inspection of crops for the occurrence, development and density of major pests such as the common vole, cereal flies, aphids and the common wheat weevil. The period is suitable for pre-winter sowing of spinach, lettuces, and garlic for early spring production. Areas designated for planting young fruit trees are being prepared (digging of pits for the purpose of moisture accumulation). During the second half of the period, the harvesting of fruit and vegetable produce will continue.
In the southeastern regions, a probability of hail is forecast at the beginning of the period, with a possibility of damage to unharvested agricultural produce.
